Betty Gilbert Ward

Betty Jean Gilbert Ward of Prattsville, Arkansas was born November 12, 1943 in Meridian, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Melvin Dennis Gilbert, Sr. And Arkie Pearl Vaughan Gilbert. She was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville. She enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, gardening, growing flowers and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Ward died Friday, November 16, 2012 at her home at the age of 69.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Gilbert and a sister-in-law, Mildred Gilbert.

Survivors: Husband, Joe Ward of Prattsville; Son, Bobby and wife Sheila Dougan of Conway; Daughters, Deborah and husband Tim Cagle of Prattsville; Katherine Cotton of Foley, Alabama; Peggy and husband Ronnie Tillman of Prattsville; Step-son, Joey and wife Natalie Ward of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Step-daughters, Monica and husband Jerry White of DeQueen; Marilyn Ward of Pine Bluff; Brothers, J.W. and wife Shirley Gilbert of Grapevine; Harvey Gilbert of Sheridan; Melvin, Jr. And wife Melba Gilbert of Camden; Willie James and wife Ann Gilbert of Hot Springs; Hollie and wife Judy of Henton, Oklahoma; Wayne and wife Reba Gilbert of Prattsville; Carl and wife Nita Gilbert of Prattsville; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Memorials may be made to Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church.
