Obituary

Aaron B. Pruett, Jr., of Sheridan, Arkansas was born September 15, 1934 at Colony Town, Mississippi, the son of the late Aaron Pruett, Sr. and Ola B. Lishman Pruett. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan, was a veteran of the United States Army, and was retired owner of the Farmer's Insurance Agency in Sheridan for 26 years. In his younger days, Aaron played college football for Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead, Mississippi and later played football in the Army. In Sheridan, he coached softball for years as well as cooking in the concession stand. His greatest pastime was gathering up his crappie poles and hooking up his boat and going fishing.

Mr. Pruett died, Friday, August 12, 2011 at V.A. Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 76. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Pruett.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lydia Cummins Pruett of Sheridan; daughters, Melinda and husband Terry Finley of Sheridan and Rhonda Holmes of New Boston, Texas; brothers, Wimp and wife Kay Pruett of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Don Pruett of Greenwood, Mississippi, Stanley and wife Patsy Pruett of McCarley, Mississippi; sisters, Helen and husband Neal Haskin of St. Louis, Missouri, Barbara Hill of Greenwood, Mississippi, Betty Porter of New York, Brenda Armstrong of Franklinton, Tennessee; he was a special "PyPy" to his grandchildren, Audra Finley, Grady Finley, Tobi Finley, Haydn Finley, Austin and wife Christine Holmes, Ashleigh Holmes, Tanner Holmes; great grandchildren, Lillian Holmes and Merrick Holmes; and his dogs, Dixie and Lexie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 15, 2011 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. E. Lowe Stone and Bro. Terry Williams officiating. Burial will be at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation, 4:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday.

Pallbearers are Austin Holmes, Grady Finley, Kevin Cummins, Tad Cummins, Al Cummins, Craig Haskin. Honorary pallbearers are Tanner Holmes, Haydn Finley, Mark Perkins, John Cacciatori and Matt Cole.
