Agnes Mavine Brewer Gray , of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, age 82, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, surrounded by family. She was born May 18, 1922 in Sheridan, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Girven and Lois Brewer, and was the widow of Malvin Thomas Gray, whom she married in 1947. She will be dearly missed by her three children, who consider her "the best Mama", Margaret Ann Harris of Pine Bluff; Thomas Gray of Jonesboro, and Edgar Gray of White Hall, Arkansas.
She was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Thomas "Earl" Evans; Cindy Musselwhite; Andrea White; Tonya Gray and Vince Gray. Her Great-Grandchildren are Tommy Harris; Justin Harris; Thomas Evans III; Shawn Evans, Joshua Evans; Hannah White; Hayden White; Toni Billups and Cody Musselwhite. She is also survived by six siblings, William E. "Crook" Brewer of Redding, California; Harrison E. "Pete" Brewer of Wabbeska; Chlorine "Priss" Haralson of Caddo Valley; James E. "Bud" Brewer of Sheridan; Vernell Bradbury of Sheridan, and Joe Brewer of Little Rock. She is also survived by daughters-in-law, Brenda Gray and Peggy Gray.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Geraldine May.
She was a 1942 graduate of Sheridan High School and a life-long member of Carl Memorial Methodist Church in Pine Bluff. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker while raising her children, Mrs. Gray worked at Gary's Restaurant and in the children's department of J. C. Penney & Co. In Pine Bluff.
Funeral Service will be Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan, Arkansas with burial in New Hope Cemetery at Sheridan. Pallbearers will be grandson Vince Gary; great-grandsons Tommy Harris and Justin Harris; and nephews Gale Brewer, Billy Webb, Max Polk and Charles May. Honorary pallbearers are Mrs. Gray's remaining nephews Everett Watson, Jeffrey Watson, Milton Brewer, Ron Webb and Don Webb.
