Alamay Beatrice Cantwell Pennington of Sheridan, Arkansas was born June 24, 1922 at Bearden, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Charles Howard and Annie Bertha Pate Cantwell. Her favorite pastime was shopping. She was proud to be the matriarch of her large family, and the rich legacy she leaves behind will be treasured by each of them.
Mrs. Pennington died peacefully, Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family, at the age of 92.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Pennington; daughter, Geraldine Evans, and a son, Larry Rucker; great great granddaughter, Madison Lanway; brothers, Willie Cantwell and Coy Cantwell; sisters, Pearl Calvert and Mildred Vaught.
Survivors: sons, Charles Marvin Rucker and wife Pat of Pine Bluff, Danny Rucker and wife Brenda of Sheridan; daughters, Jessie Price and husband James, Brenda Horton and husband Dewayne, all of Sheridan; brother, J.C. Cantwell and wife Brenda of Rison; sister, Maxine McGarity of Pine Bluff; a total of 79 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Charles Cantwell officiating. Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
