Obituary

Alexander "Alex" Cowles of Sheridan passed away 11/10/21 in Little Rock. Born 10-7-1995 in Camden, Arkansas to Shalisa Delk. His big sister, Katy, adored him. Eventually, his baby sister Taylor decided to like him. Alex was always very curious, into stuff and trying to learn something new. One thing that always held a big place in his heart were animals. Over the years we owned several different animals: dogs, cats, turtles, fish, frogs, snakes, multiple breeds of lizards, chickens, guineas, hamsters, pigs, and we were discussing getting goats. He worked mostly in the construction field, but always talked about becoming a game warden, or breed lizards and build cu stom enclosures. Alex is preceded in death by cousins: Lyndsy Alyssa Wheeler and Jimmy Lee Raley. Uncles: Nick Wheeler, Richard Sweeden, Donald Sweeden, Lynn Raley. Grandfathers: John "papaw" Wheeler and Jim "Pops" Delk. Alex is survived by his mom Shalisa "Shay" Delk. Sisters Katy Jorgensen and Taylor (Nicholas) Parks. Nephews: Mason and Elijah, whom he adored. When it came to his nephews he always said "Those boys aren't mine but those are my boys". Grandmothers: Sherry Lee Wheeler and Pamela Shirbish. Grandfather: David Shirbish. Great Grandmother: Oneta Sweeden. Aunts & Uncles: Eli Delk, John Wheeler, Christy (Jason) Salazar, Matt (Amanda) Johnson, Teresa Wheeler, Jim (Ranee) Wheeler, Lynette Gonzalez. Cousins: AJ Delk, Layla Delk, Jaxson Delk, William Wheeler, Christin (Justin) Whitekiller, Katie Wheeler, Matthew Johnson, Kanie Johnson, Jaime Johnson, John C. Wheeler, Tyler Wheeler, Katie Salazar, Ally Salazar. Alex was the most kindhearted, sweetest person you could meet. He was very talented and creative. He loved music, and not just listening to it, he had written some songs that were very good. If a song came on that had a good rhythm that he could flow with, he would completely freestyle that song beginning to end, despite knowing the original lyrics. His artwork was amazing. Alex always had new ideas. He will be missed by his aunts, uncles, and cousins. He loved and protected his mom, sisters, and "his boys". In life as well as death Alex was a giver. He chose to be an organ donor and his wishes were honored so he helped give life to others. A private family service will be held at a later date. A memorial for friends of ours will be scheduled at a later date and everyone notified.
