Andrea Isaac Adams, 36, of Sheridan, Ark., was born on Jan. 5, 1973 in
Russellville, Ark. She passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009 surrounded by her
family.
As an English teacher at Sheridan Middle School, Andrea was a mentor and
inspiration to many. Students gravitated to her nurturing spirit as she
invoked in them a desire to reach their full potential. She had been active
in the community, including the Sheridan Rotary Club, Grant County United
Way and Timberfest Committee, and had served as a volunteer with the Keeping
the Faith Women¹s Shelter. She was also an active member of First United
Methodist Church in Sheridan. Besides her fondness of literature, Andrea
also loved to put pen to paper and was a regular writer for The Sheridan
Headlight. Prior to her teaching position, Andrea brought joy to the
Sheridan Nursing & Rehab Center as the social services director for the many
patients there.
By far, her favorite role, and one in which she excelled to the fullest, was
as a mother to three beautiful daughters. In each of them Andrea's legacy
continues. An unbound and overflowing spirit in the first, an absolute
pureness of heart in the second, and an ageless wisdom in the third. Andrea
seized her moment and lived her life to the fullest with a smile,
spontaneity and courage.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years: Laith Adams of Sheridan; and
three daughters: Anna, Claire and Vivian Adams, of the home. She is also
survived by her mother and stepfather: Zelda and Russell Riley of the
Landmark Community; father and stepmother: Wayne and Olena Isaac of Cabot;
sister and brother-in-law: Dina and Walter Wills of the East End Community;
four nieces; two nephews; a loving and supporting family of in-laws; her
paternal grandparents: J.O. and Bernetta Isaac of Cabot; her maternal
grandmother: Lorrane Gunter of Dexter, New York; and a host of other family
and friends.
Andrea was preceded to her heavenly home by her beloved little sister: Kara
Joy Isaac; grandfather: Alva Baker; and great-grandmother: Myrtle McCormick.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, May 14 at
4:30 p.m. in First United Methodist Church in Sheridan. The Rev. Bruce
Bennett will be officiating the service to include reflection and the
sharing of memories followed by an open fellowship in the church¹s Family
Life Center.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Martin, Chris Owen, Walter Wills, Leif
Henry, Donald Tubbs, Don Nixon and Bobby Adams. Andrea has requested her
body be cremated.
Flowers may be sent to First United Methodist Church or donations may be
made to Peoples Bank for a future memorial in Andrea¹s name.
During the service, there will be a time of reflection and sharing, and the family would love for anyone who would like to share a memory of Andrea during this part of the service, to feel welcome to participate.
