Obituary

Ben Allan Wilson of Sheridan, Arkansas was born September 4, 1964 in Pine Bluff, AR, the son of the late B.A. and Bessie Wilson. Ben lived most of his life here in Sheridan. He loved living here and being a part of our little slice of paradise in Grant County.  Ben worked as stormwater manager for the city of Bryant for over 13 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sheridan. Ben had a strong love for the outdoors whether it was riding his bike around the county, hiking mountains, or even just admiring the trees and the beauty of God's creation. Ben's love for music, history, classic TV shows, and old movies brought him a nostalgic sense of comfort, often invoking stories of the past, which he loved to share. While Ben was a reserved and thoughtful person, those who knew him well enjoyed his unique humor of wordplay, pranks, and jokes. Ben designed and helped build his own house, the home where he and his wife, Carol, made countless memories together. Married on July 24, 1999, Ben and Carol were not only husband and wife but also best friends. Their love and bond were a testament to what it means to truly share life together. Ben and Carol, both dog lovers, had several through the years which they considered to be their own children including Pepper, Moose, Woody, Demelza, and Sadie. Ben could often be seen riding his bike or hauling his dogs around town. He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart and always being there for people when it mattered. Ben leaves a lasting legacy behind in this community and for his family.

Ben passed away peacefully Thursday July 31, 2025, at his home in Sheridan.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Joe Wise and beloved family friends Bertha "Ma" and Hobart Byrd. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Carol Wilson, his sisters Karen Wilson and Regina Wise, nephews Brad and Justin Wise, and great nieces Emily Osborn and Evie Wise.
