Betty Jean Crawford Benning of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 4, 1931 in Gurdon, Arkansas the daughter of the late Theodore and Mellie Rowland Crawford. She was a member of North Main Baptist Church at Sheridan and formerly had been a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church at Prattsville.

Mrs. Benning died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Baptist Health Medical Center at the age of 78.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Benning, brothers, Bobby Crawford, Carl Crawford and James Lee Crawford.

Survivors: Daughter, Meredith Benning of Sheridan;

Sons, John Lee Benning of Prattsville;
Frank Benning of Prattsville;

Sisters, Maxine Hornaday of Hampton; Joyce Rich of Locust Bayou; Patsy Wildener of Hampton; Barbara Carter of Bruton, Alabama and Wanda Johnson of Little Rock.

Grandchildren, Quentin (Sarah) Spurlock of Bono; Dena (Mark) Jennings of Warren; Rodney (Renee) Benning of Prattsville; Audra Benning of Sheridan; and Jennifer (Todd) Burrow of Malvern.

Great grandchildren, Lacey Brown, Cammie Spurlock, Lacey Jennings, Jhonna Benning, Claudia Benning, Ross Plunkett and Donna Kaye Plunkett, a special family friend, Melvin Masters as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 13, 2009 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Vernon Bass officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation:6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rodney Benning, Quentin Spurlock, Todd Burrow, Randy Plunkett, Ross Plunkett and Mark Jennings.
