Martha Betty Ready Gestring of Leola, Arkansas was born December 18, 1925 at Milo, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Robert Allen and Iva Hines Ready. She was a member of Riverside Southern Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado. She went to school to be a beautician and she worked with flowers. She enjoyed reading murder mysteries, especially Agatha Christie's books. Betty also enjoyed traveling all over, in order to do genealogy on her family. She served in the United States Army during World War II. She was discharged in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia at the end of the war. It was there she met her husband Harlan, who was himself a Veteran.


Mrs. Gestring died Friday, October 28, 2016 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Malvern, at the age of 90. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Stanley Gestring; husband, Harlan Gestring; brothers, Henry Ready, Robert Ready, Fred Ready; sisters, Maudie Ready Cloud, Jane Ready Stiles.

Survivors include her son, Kent Gestring of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Lynn Gestring Randazzo of Leola; grandchildren, Michael Gestring of Denver, Colorado, Rashawn Randazzo of Virginia; great grandson, Geoff of Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews , friends, and also her pets.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Taylor Cemetery in Leola.
