Betty Ashley Horton of Sheridan, Arkansas was born March 7, 1932 in Sheridan, the daughter of the late Drew Edward and Versie Jane Appling Ashley. She was a member of First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan, where she served her Lord faithfully working in AWANA, singing in the choir, Ladies Auxiliary and being a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and ASHA Group. She was a retired speech pathologist and audiologist.

Ms. Horton died at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center on April 2, 2023 at the age of 91.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Carl Horton; sisters, Trula McGarity, Mildred Whitaker, Joyce Sites, Delphia Culpepper, Dorothy Gregory, Shirley James; and sons, Chet Horton, Kevin Horton.

Survivors: daughters, Carla (Larry) Anderson, Ellen (Steve) Walters all of Sheridan; 5 grandchildren, Brian Horton, John C. Horton, Sean Horton, Marc Horton, Joshua Walters and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Funeral service will be Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM at First Landmark Baptist Church with Bro. Shawn Hill and Bro. Scott Culpepper officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday night from 6:00 -8:00 PM at the funeral home.
