Betty Lynn Ross St. John of Sheridan, Arkansas was born June 1, 1933 in Warren, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Arra Spears Ross. Betty was an active member of Orion Missionary Baptist Church in Redfield, where she served her Lord faithfully.
Betty enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, bowling and caring for her family. She sewed all of her daughters clothing when they were small. She even hand made her daughter, Linda's wedding dress. Betty had numerous friends who attended Tupperware, Amway, Stanley and Home Interior Decorating parties with her. She also enjoyed entertaining friends at her home and at church. She was famous for her dressing, corn bread and fruit cake, and she passed these special recipes down to her daughters. She loved her family and was a happy housewife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. St. John passed peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2022 at her home at the age of 89 with her family by her side.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Benton (JB) St. John; daughter, Linda F. Felton and her 6 siblings.
Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Ann Long of Sheridan and Donna Lynn (Brian) Edwards of Cody, Wyoming. 9 grandchildren, Julie LaRue of Royal; Joe (Amanda) Ford of Winfield, MO; Sharon (Jeff) Barnhill of Hensley; Josh Felton of Clinton; Jeremiah Felton of Clinton; Erika Carrington of Cody, WY; Cody Edwards of Cody, WY and Allison Edwards of Cody, WY. 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a host of family, church family and many friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Orion Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Easley and Bro. Dwayne Ashcraft officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel North Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the church as well.
Pallbearers are Joe Ford, Josh Felton, Jeremiah Felton, Cody Edwards, Dustin Brawdy, Alton Brawdy, Haden Vaughn, Ethan Thompson, Evan Thompson, Roy Barnhill, and Aaron Ford. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Senior Citizens Group of Orion Missionary Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Saline Memorial Hospice for the excellent care that was extended to Mrs. St John and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Orion Missionary Baptist Church, Redfield, AR.
