Betty Jo Sweeney of Sheridan, Arkansas was born on July 25, 1949, in Star City, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Ralph and Lawanda Cook Hobson.  Betty was a faithful member of Meadowview Southern Baptist Church in Sheridan. She loved to sing and enjoyed going to church whenever she was able to. Gospel music was a special joy for her. Betty also loved her dog Muffin and "bossing" her husband Mike around. However, her greatest joy in life was getting to be there and watch her grandchildren grow up, she was so proud of each and every one of them. All who knew Betty will remember her warm spirit and devotion to those she loved, she will be dearly missed.

Betty Jo is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Michael Sweeney Sr.; her children, Michael (Liz) Sweeney Jr., Brad (Silvia) Sweeney, and Christy (Daniel) Grimmett; her siblings, Terry (Gayle) Hobson and Glenda (Walt) Snyder, grandchildren Brian (Autum) Sweeney, Ashley (John) Ashley, Christian Sweeney, Mikayla Sweeney, Nehemiah Sweeney, Jedidiah Sweeney, Jake (Madison) Grimmett, Josh Grimmett and Jonah Grimmett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Hobson and Lawanda Cook Hobson, and her brother, Roger Hobson.

Visitation will be held on April 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Ron Sanders officiating. Both will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Interment service will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery also in Sheridan
