Obituary

Billy Charles "Mule" Barnes of Sheridan, Arkansas was born December 20, 1932 at Sheridan, the son of the late Calvin Buck and Zelma Wilkinson Barnes. He was a member of Pine Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Grapevine, was retired owner and operator of Bill's Barber Shop, was President of Childer's Hunting Club, was appointed in 1968 by Gov. Dale Bumpers to the "Citizens Concerned about the Saline River" association, was President of"Save Our Saline River", was a former Grant County Fair Board member, was a former high school basketball referee, was past President of the Sheridan Lions Club and along with his son Darrell became the first father-son to make All State in Arkansas high school football. Bill also loved horses and hunting and fishing, especially coon hunting.

Mr. Barnes died Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at U.A.M.S Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 72.

One of Bill's favorite pastimes was serving God with his musical talent. In fact, Bill met his best friend and love of his life, his wife Elouise, while singing gospel music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.D. Barnes.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel at Sheridan with Bro. Jim Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday evening 5-8 P.M.
Pallbearers will be Joe Brewer, Don Carter, Keith Clement, Robert Clement, Billy Joe Cotton and Franklin Pumphrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Davis, Eddie Lybrand, Michael Hester and Donovan Hall.
