Billy Ray Davenport of Shreveport, Louisiana died Monday afternoon March 14, 2022. He was born at home in Grant County just north of Sheridan, Arkansas on  October 9, 1927 to Essie Barnes Davenport and William Harrison Davenport.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Maxine Damron, Wilton, Eldred, Cecil and granddaughter Sarah Davenport.

Bill is survived by his wife Mary, siblings Kenneth Davenport and Sue Davenport McCoy; children Teresa, David, Patricia; grandchildren Daniel, John, Paul, great grandchildren Emarie, Trent, Charlotte, Katherine, and Olivia.

He was a graduate of Sheridan High School and served in the US Navy Seabees during World War 11. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music, gardening, Mexican food, catfish and BBQ.

Bill was laid to rest at Poe Cemetery in Sheridan on March 23, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.
