Billy Dan Duke, Sr. of Sheridan, Arkansas was born December 6, 1953 at Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Billy George and Verna Lee Miller Duke. He was a member of Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church, was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran, was retired from International Paper Company as an instrument electrician, was a member of the Electrical Worker's Union, as well as a member of VICA. Billy enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling with his wife Marsha.
Mr. Duke died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 58. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert "Ricky" Duke.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 38 years, Marsha Luce Duke of Sheridan; son, Billy Dan Duke, Jr.; daughter, Shawnia Volner of Bentonville; grandchildren, Tyler B. Volner, Hunter D.Volner, Kilynn Duke, Gunner Duke, and Hudsynn Blake Duke; brother, Michael and wife Judith Duke of Lufkin, Texas; nephews, Travis Duke of Lufkin, Texas and Gene Knappenberger of Erie, Pennsylvania; niece, Cheyenne Duke of Sulpher Springs, Texas; brother-in-law, C.B. Luce and family of Garland, Texas; sisters-in-law, Clydell Vailey and family and Gwen Luce and family, all of Conroe, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan.
