Obituary

Billy Ray Lain of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 14, 1932 at Cornersville, Arkansas, the son of the late Charlie Monroe and Pearl James Lain. He was a 1951 graduate of Monticello High School. Billy was saved in 1958 at the age of 26 and was re-baptized in 1977. He was a member of North Main Baptist Church at Sheridan and was a retired housing contractor. Billy enjoyed hunting , fishing, and working with wood.

Mr. Lain died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center Hospice at the age of 75. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Tommy Newton Lain,Charlie Duncan Lain, Frank Junior Lain, Harvey Eugene Lain and sisters, Mary Lois Winningham, Gladys Lain, Louise Galloway and Lela Mae Sawyer.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Verla Ruth Austin Lain of Sheridan. They were married March 22, 1952; sons, Howard Edward Lain and wife Debbie of Warren, David Ray Lain and wife Gloria of Sheridan, Michael Anthony Lain and wife Brenda of Sheridan; grandchildren, Scott Edward Lain, Jennifer Jo Tillman, Brian Anthony Lain, Gary Wayne Lain, Melissa Denise Lain; great grandchildren, Cody Lain, T.J. Tillman and Brandon Tillman. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jon Cox and Bro. Kenneth Click officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery near Rison. Visitation: 5:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be nephews: Charlie Wayne Lain, Donald Lain, Danny Lain, Mark Lain, Darwin Lain, Ronnie Johnson, James Lain, Bruce Galloway, Dwight Winningham, and Bobby Sawyer.
