Billy Shumate, 54, of Scottsville, Kentucky died Friday, April 17, 2009 from injuries received in a farming accident. The Tacoma, Washington native was a former employee of Sumitomo and attended Shiloh United Methodist Church, where his wife serves as pastor. He was the son of Bill Marion Shumate and Juanita Bernice Crook Shumate, who survive.

He is survived by his wife, Rev. Barbara Shumate, Scottsville, Kentucky; Sons, Bryan Shumate and wife Tammy of Arkadelphia and Brent Shumate and wife Shannon of Prattsville; Daughter, Brooke Shumate and fiance' Jeremy Bush of Scottsville, Kentucky; His parents; Bill and Juanita Shumate of Little Rock; Sister; Susan Griffis and husband Gary of Little Rock; 7 grandchildren; Faith Shumate, Bryanna Shumate, Brendon Shumate, Madison Shumate, Blane Shumate, Malachi Shumate and Jeremy Bush, Jr. and his buddy, Jake; Special friends, Robert and Brenda York of Scottsville, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Bro. Al Michael and Bro. Lance Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery. Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
