Bobbie Jean Baynham Childers of Sheridan, Arkansas, was born September 20, 1931 at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Thomas Lee Baynham and Wilma Hughes Baynham Benson.
Mrs. Childers graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1949 and later graduated from Henderson State Teacher's College (now Henderson State University) in 1953 with a Bachelor of Music degree. She taught music at schools in Eudora, Arkansas; Dumas, Arkansas; Greenville, Mississippi; and Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and later served as organist at First Christian Church in Pine Bluff. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Childers died Friday, August 28, 2009 at Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sheridan at the age of 77. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Wayne E. "Bud" Childers, who died February 8, 2009. They were married, June 6, 1954.
Survivors include her son, Wayne E. Childers, Jr. and wife Joanne of New Hope, Pennsylvania and her daughter, Melody Childers Rainwater and husband John of Sheridan; three grandchildren, Faith Childers, Alina Childers and David Rainwater and 2 step-grandchildren, Shawn Simmonds and Lianna Simmonds.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 31, 2009 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sheridan with Bro. Joe Paul Bratton and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
