Obituary

Brenda Stanley Roberts, 80, of Sherwood, AR, passed away on 03/19/2026.

Brenda was born on 08/22/1945, the third of seven daughters, to Jerome Stanley and Wanda Henderson Stanley.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years DL Roberts, and her sisters Rosemary Stanley Parmer and Beverly Stanley Threlkeld.

Brenda is survived by her sisters Sharon Stanley Wyatt (and Bobby) of Pine Bluff, AR, Nancy Stanley DeFoor (and Ron) of Pine Bluff, AR, Ruth Stanley Clark (and Kerry) of Woodlawn, AR, and Becky Stanley Everett (and Roger) of Dardanelle, AR. Brenda was the mother of daughter, Shelly Fetters (and Bridget) of Sherwood, AR, daughter, Lorri Fetters Ivey of Sherwood, AR, and son, Larry Fetters (and Cori) of Sherwood, AR. She was grandmother of Lauren Ivey Barnes (and Fount) of Sheridan, AR, Zachary Ivey (and Caitlyn) of Sherwood, AR, Matthew Ivey (and Destiny) of Jacksonville, AR, Toni Mae Fetters of Sherwood, AR, Zach Sparks (and Jesse) of Cabot, AR, Casey Sparks of Sherwood, AR, and Jordan Hanley (and Richard) of Hot Springs, AR. She was also a great-grandmother of Brayden, Ema, Aurora, Amelia, and Zander. Brenda is also survived by her significant other, Charles Ray.

Brenda was a member of Immanual Baptist Church of Sheridan, AR where she taught The Willing Workers Sunday School class, The AWANA Clubs, was a member of the choir, and the first president of the WOW, The Women of Worship. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, John McAlmont Pine Bluff Chapter, where she held the office of Vice President. She was a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy, David O. Dodd Pine Bluff Chapter, where she was an officer. She was also a member of The Sheridan Red Hat Society.

Brenda loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She said they were her hobbies first and foremost. She loved to shop, scrapbook, take pictures, and make picture books. She was an avid bowler and belonged to many teams. She and DL retired as state doubles champions in 1981.

Overcoming adversity is what Brenda was known for. She began her early life at the age of 5 by battling polio and went on to survive cancer twice, along with a list of other ailments. Nothing came her way that she didn’t face with a smile, covered in lipstick, and joy in her heart. She began life fighting, and continued until the Lord said, “No more.”

Services will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan, AR, on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Visitation is from 9:00 until service time.

 Pallbearers are: Larry Fetters, Zachary Ivey, Matthew Ivey, Rob Wyatt, Paul Hutcheson, and Zach Sparks. Honorary Pallbearers are: Robert and Cindy Fleming, Rick and Gail Earnhart, Donald Gene and Sarah Clark, Rayvon and Linda Vailes, and Roger and Donna Johnson.

The interment will be at Bethel Cemetery in Russellville, AR.
