Obituary

Calvin Lee Blake was born March 11, 1932 to the late OB and Nola Blake. Calvin passed away December 30, 2016. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sheridan for 73 years and a retired Sales Manager from JL & Williams Lumber Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Basil Blake, Rayford Blake, Carthel Blake, and Edgar Blake.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irene Blake; sister Lois Blake Heffner of Hensley; daughter Melinda Blake McLarnon (Michael) of Jackson Georgia; son Randy Blake (Debbie) of Sheridan; Grandchildren Jenny Manning, Bryce Nall (Jennifer), Melissa Taylor (Michael), Abigail Brooks (Matthew), and Quentin Blake; Great Grandchildren, Morgan Manning, Kinley Morrow, Lillian Nall, Trent Taylor, and Olivia Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Blake was a lifetime resident of Sheridan serving his community as Alderman on the City Council from 1965 to 1992, the Sheridan Parks and Recreation Committee from 1988 to 1996, the Sheridan Water Board from 1992 to present, and the Farm Bureau Board from 1978 to present. Mr. Blake was an avid Razorback fan who loved all Razorback Sports.

Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, January 2, 2017 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Monday at 2:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan.

Pallbearers are Larry Jones, Jordan Irby, Bobby Pierce, Phil Davenport, Dale Davenport, Mayor Joe Wise, Brannon Wells, and Dewey Looney. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Men's Bible Class of the Sheridan First United Methodist Church.
