Obituary

Carl Hedden of Grapevine went to be with his Lord on December 21, 2007 at his home at the age of 90.

He was born November 4, 1917 in the family home at Grapevine, and was the son of the late John Smith and Sarah Jane Ramick Hedden.

Mr. Hedden was reared and received his education in Grapevine. He was married for 64 years and 10 months to his "Babe" Dora Ella Hampton Hedden on June 13, 1941.

He was a member of the Hedden Chapel Assembly of God Church in Grapevine for 75 years, also a deacon for 65 years. He was selected as Father of the Year in 1980. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and Grant County Cattlemen's Association. and he was retired from International Paper Company in 1976 after 26 years, President of the Union Local #856 of the International Brotherhood National of Pulp and Sulpher Papermill Workers, and President of the Grapevine School Board.

He left behind a beautiful legacy for all those who knew him. He loved his church family and community and had a giving heart. Mr. Hedden had an unconditional love for his family. He loved working with his son, Vanas in the hay fields and growing a big garden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Ella Hampton Hedden; three brothers, Elvis Hedden, Lloyd Hedden, Boyd Hedden; two sisters; Ella Poss, Ruby Smith; and a granddaughter Mollie Blair.

Survivors are a son, Vanas Hedden and wife Linda; 2 daughters, Janie Elton, Janet Davis and husband Conrad all of Grapevine; one brother, Joe Hedden of Sheridan and one sister, Ollie Fielding of Grapevine.

Eleven Grandchildren: Gary and Bruce Hedden, Kerri Horn, Kendra Bradford, Ray Williams, Becky Harper, Eugene Davis, Tina Smith, Tim and Ricky Elton, Ralph Grigsby.

Nineteen Great-Grandchildren: Sara and Anthony Hedden, Tylar Grace Horn, Brittany and Cole Bradford, Blake and Luke Williams, Dakota and Sierra Hedden, Jude Elton, Adam Pendergrass, Samantha Bull, C.J., Alecia, Zack and Hunter Davis, Corey Williams, Logan Thompson, Jeremy and Josh Grigsby.

A Memorial Celebration will be 2:00 PM, Monday, December 24, 2007 at the Hedden Chapel Assembly of God Church in Grapevine with Rev. C.C. Hodges and Rev. C.M. Carey and Rev. Eddie Gwin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 PM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Burial will follow at Hedden Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hedden Chapel Assembly of God Church in Memory of Carl Hedden.

Pallbearers are grandsons and great grandsons, Gary Hedden, Anthony Hedden, Bruce Hedden, Dakota Hedden, Ray Williams, Blake Williams, Luke Williams, Corey Williams, John Bradford, Cole Bradford, Jason Horn, Tim Elton, Jude Elton , Paul Pendergrass, Adam Pendergrass and Johnnie Harper. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Hedden Chapel Assembly of God Church.
