Carl James Pool, of Sheridan, Arkansas, was born in Holcomb, Missouri, on February 5th, 1939 to Elsie and George Pool. He spent the later part of his life in Sheridan, where he died on June 22nd, 2015 at the age of 76.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Elsie and George Pool, brother Edmund Pool. He is survived by his daughter Missy Overton of Sheridan; son, Andrew (Geanise) Pool of Vilonia, Arkansas; granddaughters, Allie (Landon) Mills of Sheridan, Arkansas, Kallie (Gregory) Burleson of Haskell, Arkansas, Haley Pool (Chris Bria), and Allison, Brittin and Caragan Holman, all of Vilonia, Arkansas; great-grandson, Levi Bria; sister-in-law, Nancy Pool; sister, Frances (Charles) Boots of Missouri; brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Pool of Missouri, Samuel (Judy) Pool of Missouri, Terry (Sally) Pool of Texas and an abundance of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, along with many special friends.
Carl did a little bit of everything throughout his life. From picking cotton, being the local paper boy, selling insurance, to working on the Casino Queen in St. Louis, Missouri. Most people knew him as "The Grumpy Old Man" from Brew Heaven café, but his family knew him as a loving, caring, and funny Dad, Paw-paw, brother and uncle. You could always hear him say "I don't like kids, cats or dogs!", however he did have a few favorites whom he "liked a little bit". The kids from Brew Heaven (whom he straightened out), Kane, Maci, Levi and Wyatt.
His hobbies were fishing, spending time with family and friends and doing little things for people in need. He was an avid lotto player but never won the jackpot.
Carl attended First Baptist Church and The First Christian Church, both in Sheridan, Arkansas. He was also very active in the First Baptist Church Food Pantry.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Food Pantry, 1201 South Rock, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Paul Grove, Sr. officiating. Services will conclude at the chapel and the burial will be private. Visitation is Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
