Carl Gene Smith of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 26, 1953 in Pine Bluff, the son of the late Dewitt Carl and Melvis Benfield Smith. He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Sheridan, and had served in the Arkansas National Guard. He was retired from the trucking and logging industry and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and going to bluegrass festivals.  People have always told him that singing was his gift. He used that talent to worship and praise his Heavenly Father.

Carl Gene died at his home surrounded by his family on October 16, 2023 at the age of 70.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors: wife, best friend and caregiver, Diane Givens Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Amber Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Justin Moody, all of Sheridan; 3 grandchildren, Lakyn, Landon, Logan and a host of extended family members, church family and many friends.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Cypert officiating. Burial will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M.

Pallbearers are Harold Cotton, Carroll Cotton, Jerry Smith, Terry Knighten, Eddie Jo Williams, Adam Smith, Justin Moody, David Givens, Ray Dean Shoptaw, and Eddie Benfield.
