Carroll Long

Carroll Leonard Long was born April 7, 1938, in the Two Bar Ranch Community near DeWitt, Arkansas, the son of Edward Collise Long and Mattie Purdy Long. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan. In his younger days he proudly served in the Arkansas National Guard.  He spent the early part of his career as manager of the NAPA store in Hazen, Arkansas. In 1977, he moved his family to Sheridan to be the parts manager at Brown Ford Sales. He had a knack for remembering multi-digit part numbers for many makes and models of vehicles. Very often, he could pull the numbers up from memory without having to look them up. He retired for a year then went back to work, ending his career in the tool room for the Washington Group at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. Over the years, Carroll spent many hours at the softball field watching Lisa play ball and many hours at the football field watching her perform with the Sheridan High School Marching Band.

Carroll passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, after a good breakfast and a good morning visiting and joking with friends at the Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab. He was 88 years old.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Floyd, Clifford, Norvil, and Leon, father-in-law and mother-in-law Roy and Vera Shairrick Clemons, brother-in-law Glen Clemons, Sr., and sister-in-law Frances Clemons.

He is survived by his wife Jean Clemons Long of Sheridan, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage, his daughter Lisa Carol Clark and husband Gary Clark of Sheridan, and granddaughter Erin Clark of Benton. He is also survived by brothers Duane Long of DeWitt, Garland Long of Little Rock, sister-in-law Joan Clemons Tyler of Fordyce, brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Becky Clemons of Pine Bluff, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab for their kind and compassionate care of Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Center Campground Cemetery. Visitation is also Wednesday, 1:00-2:00 P.M.
