Charles Lee "Chuck" Croy, 79, of Redfield AR. passed away on May 14, 2019. Charles was born and reared in the Orion community in Grant County Arkansas on October 2, 1939 to the late George W. and Georgia F. Dean Croy. Charles received his education in Sheridan, Arkansas where he graduated from Sheridan High School in 1957.

Charles began his early career as Distribution Manager for the Safeway Corporation in Amarillo Texas. and later in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1979 he returned to Redfield Arkansas and established a local grocery, Chucks Thriftway.

He served as volunteer to several local organizations in town.

Mr. Croy later worked as a Supervisor for DCT Contractors at the National Center for Toxicological Research. Charles loved his work and to work, he retired in 2010, although he would have preferred to continue to work as long as possible, he loved his friends and coworkers.

Charles was a member of the Redfield Missionary Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge. He was an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman, and he loved being outdoors spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Croy was preceded in death by his parents George and Georgia Croy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Evelyn Croy of Redfield.

Charles and Evelyn had three children who survive him as well, his eldest son Charles G. "Chuck Jr." Croy and Chuck's wife Tammi Forbess Croy of Redfield, Arkansas; his daughter, Kay Lynn Croy Welch of Cave City Arkansas, and his youngest son Ritchey W. Croy of Redfield Arkansas.

Charles and Evelyn had 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren, all of whom adored him.

Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Redfield Missionary Baptist Church in Redfield with Bro. Chris Cagle, Bro. Toby Wilson and Bro. Spencer Croy officiating. Burial will follow at Orion Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 2:00 until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Orion Cemetery Association, P.O. box 863, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150.

Pallbearers are Gary Brewer, Roger Haynes, Jake Croy, James Croy, Rich Croy, Kevin Clark, Spencer Croy and David Croy.
