Obituary

Charles W. Hollis of Sheridan, Arkansas was born on September 27, 1928 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Howard Cecil Hollis and Hattie Favors Hollis. He passed from this life on September 19, 2007 at the age of 78. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

He was a long time member of Hope Pentecostal Church, but recently after his illness, attended New Life Fellowship with his son Steve. Charles was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in active duty during the Korean War. He retired from Fairfield Trucking as a tractor-trailer owner-operator in 1999.

He married Jimmie Rae Haddock on June 29, 1951, who predeceased him on August 29, 2002 after 51 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Ginger Hollis House on August 15, 2005.

He is survived by two sons; Walt Hollis and wife Vicki of Sheridan and Steve Hollis and wife Carla, also of Sheridan; Five grandchildren, Valisha Hollis Davenport, Jason Hollis, Amber Hollis Winston, Ashley Hollis, and Lindsay House; three great grandchildren, Grace Davenport, Graham Davenport and Isaiah Winston.

Visitation will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel in Sheridan, Arkansas on Friday, September 21, 2007 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Funeral Services will be at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Walt Hollis, Tommy Cypert and Steve Cypert officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Sheridan.
Pallbearers are Thomas Whitehead,
Gary Whitehead, Tim Minton, Hershel Kelly, Fred Sicking and Tim Benfield. Honorary Pallbearers are Melvin Givens, Jerry Barnes and Billy Joe Cotton.
