Charles Elbert Phillips of Sheridan, Arkansas was born on November 23, 1949.  He was the youngest son of Elbert "Babe" and Madge "Cricket" Phillips.  He graduated from Grapevine High School where he played on the basketball team. He married the love of his life Diane (Brewer) Phillips on October 5, 1968.  After high school, he worked for Cotton Belt Railroad.  Then later for Union Pacific Railroad from which he retired.

He enjoyed camping, playing and coaching softball where he helped shaped hundreds of girls lives.  His true passion was helping and watching his granddaughter Caitlin at horse shows.  He was very active in helping her practice, taking her to lessons and driving to every local and out of town competition she went to.

Charles passed on November 5, 2023 at the age of 73.  He entered Baptist Hospital due to a myasthenia Gravis Flare and an abcess in his colon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, W.J. "Sonny" Phillips, sisters, Willene Anderson, Wilmarine Smith, Maxine Baker and Teresa Phillips; daughter-in-law Stacey (Threlkeld) Phillips and a host of extended family members and friends.

Charles is survived by his wife, Diane (Brewer) Phillips; fur baby Rocky; daughter, Angela (Johnny) Beckwith; son, Brian Phillips; granddaughter, Caitlin (Cale) Thomas, Maddie (Kyle) Rice; grandsons, Nathan Freeman, Garett (Lexi) Keedy; His pride and joy, great granddaughter Jayden Thomas; great grandson Tucker Keedy; great granddaughter Lyla Gober; sisters, Mary Jane Jackson, Audrey Harrington; brothers, Fred Phillips, Aubrey Phillips. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M.  Friday, November 10, 2023 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Michael Walton officiating.  Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.  Visitation is also Friday, 1:00-2:00 P.M.
