Charles Herman Shellnut of Little Rock, Arkansas born March 30, 1935 in Sheridan Arkansas to Lenzy and Mattie Shellnut passed away January 26, 2019 at the age of 83.
He passed away from complications of a serious accident that occurred August 4, 2018. He was predeceased by his wife Carol, two sisters Hazel Jolly and Jo Leach and a brother Lester Shellnut.
He is survived by daughters, Charlotte Dunkle (husband Scott, two grandsons, Thomas and Timothy and granddaughter Tara) and Cheri Gregg (granddaughter Deanna). Charles is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles was in the USAF from 1952-1956 serving as an electrician. He didn't graduate from high school before joining the military but while stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, he completed his high school education and received his high school diploma. He also spent time in Alaska while serving in the Air Force. After completing his military service, he moved to Little Rock and had his own successful business as a brick layer. Charles also would travel to help different family members with brick laying jobs. He helped out all over Arkansas and even traveled as far as Florida to help a family member with a brick laying job. He will be missed by many.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 1 from 5–7 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Thomas Dunkle, Timothy Dunkle, Scott Dunkle, Wesley Leach, Lyndsey Shellnut and Bill Johnson.
