Charles Eugene Smith of North Little Rock, Arkansas was born December 21, 1943 in Grenada, Mississippi, the son of the late Grover and Ruby Hedden Smith. He was a graduate of Sheridan High School and had attended College of the Ozarks and UCA. He had proudly served in the United States Navy, being on the USS Pine Island Ship, serving in Vietnam, Japan and Galapa.

Mr. Smith died at the John L. McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 80.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Wesley T. Richard; brother-in-law, Billy Joe Rundell, daughter-in-law, Lisa Martin; son-in-law, Glenn Casey; grandson, Charles Christopher Martin; niece, Amanda Rundell.

Survivors: son, John Martin of Hot Springs Village; daughters, Joni Buell (Marty) of Dacula, Georgia, Juli Martin (Jerry) of Paragould, Libbi Lamar of North Little Rock, Nicolle Smith of North Little Rock, Randi Stokes
(Jimmy Schaefer) of Maui; sisters, Barbara Smith of North Little Rock, Charlotte Rundell of Sheridan and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and extended family members and friends.

A Memorial service will Monday at 2:30 PM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
