Charlie R. "C.R." James of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 13, 1929 in Kingsland, Arkansas the son of the late Charlie Perk and Sadie Ray Mitchell James. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Sheridan, was retired from Operator Engineers 382, and had served in the United States Army, having served in Germany during the Korean War. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator, and enjoyed camping, fishing, "piddlin" with equipment, and spending time with his family.
Mr. James died Friday, May 9, 2014 at the VA Hospital at the age of 85.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alva Ray James.
Survivors: wife of 63 years, Pauline Burford James of Sheridan; daughters, Gloria and Donald Fillion of Sheridan, Diane and Jodell Williams of Fenter, Melanie and Eddy Mitchell of Grapevine; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Gary Copeland and Bro. Clyde Chenault officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Steven Cox, Matthew Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, Ben Cassidy, Andrew Wilson, Missy Harris, Kristen Cassidy, Carrie Tolson.
