Obituary

Charlie Mitchell, Jr. of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 5, 1926 in Rison, Arkansas the son of the late Charlie Mitchell, Sr. and Lillian McClendon Mitchell. He was a member of New Hope Methodist Church and had retired as a Federal Livestock Inspector for the United States government and had also retired as a Livestock Administrator for the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He was a member of Sheridan Lodge #260 formerly Mooneyville Lodge and he also had served in the Marines during World War II.

Mr. Mitchell died Monday, August 10, 2009 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 83.

Sisters, Julia Mae Bowman of Tipton, Georgia; Cat and husband Odell McPherson of North Little Rock;

Grandchildren; Sam and Lindsay Mitchell of Maumelle, Landan Mitchell of Hot Springs, Megan Vanlandingham of Little Rock, Tyler Vanlandingham of Fayetteville, Bethany Mitchell of Russellville, Kaitlin Mitchell of Fayetteville, Whitney Hicks of Russellville, Lindsey Mitchell of Sheridan and Hannah Hicks of Sheridan.

Great grandchild, Asher Mitchell of Maumelle;
Caregiver and friend, Leslie Pilkington and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Bro. J.J. Harrington officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery near Sheridan. Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Roy Wayne Fleming, Steve Threlkeld, Clay Wilson, Robin Carter, Bubba Bradford, Randy Morgan, Steve Strahan, Billy Ray Crouse and Eddy Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers are the Masons and Billy Wilson.
