Christopher Elton "Chris" Palmer, Assistant Chief, Stuttgart Police Department, Stuttgart, Arkansas, Badge number 101, End of Watch, Monday, January 15, 2024.

Formerly of Sheridan, Arkansas, he was born February 26, 1963 at Helena, Arkansas, the son of the late William E. Palmer, Jr. and Jerrie Merle Shackleford Freyermuth.  Chris graduated from England High School in 1981.  He was an avid sports fan and loved animals.  Chris was a true cowboy and loved his horses Tuff and Siri.  He had 3 fur babies, Velvet, Fluffy, and Dorothy, and his cat, Tulip. He was especially a proud Popaw and loved every minute he spent with his grandkids.

Chris's true calling and passion was law enforcement.  He took the badge seriously, and worked hard to make a difference.  He proudly served the Grant County Sheriff's Office for many years and was currently Assistant Chief at Stuttgart Police Department.  He cared about his community and worked hard to make it a safer place for its citizens.

Mr. Palmer died peacefully in his sleep, Monday, January 15, 2024, at his home in Stuttgart, at the age of 60.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael A. Palmer, Sr.; grandchildren, Nova, Nora, and Liv.

Survivors include his best friend and love of his life for 25 years, Karen Wisely Palmer of Stuttgart; daughters, Crystal (Ryan) Eakin of Sheridan; Sara (Chris) Mangrum of Sheridan; Candice (Brian) Lain of Sheridan; Jade (Barry) Anderson of Virginia; grandchildren, Eden, Ava, Carter, Lucas, Mary Anna, Scarlett, Saylor, Savannah, Naomi, and River; brothers, Kevin (Lois) Palmer of Sheridan, Mark Oxner of Kansas; sisters, Debbie Palmer of North Carolina, Shiela Palmer of Alma, Arkansas.  He is also survived by numerous other extended family members, and an untold number of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sheridan (206 E. Holly) with Bro. Michael Walton, Bro. Gary Copeland, and Bro. David Lengfeld officiating.  Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation is also Sunday, 2:00-3:00 P.M.

Serving as pallbearers: Justin Koon, Mike Coffman, David Lengfeld, Matt Smith, Scott Norton, Chief David Parker, Thomas Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Stuttgart Police Department, Grant County Sheriff's Office, and other law enforcement agencies.
