IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chris Elbert
Ward
February 13, 1954 – December 3, 2023
Chris Elbert Ward was born February 13th 1954 to Elbert and Vertie Ward. He was raised in Altheimer and was the owner and operator of MLD Farms and a United States Navy Veteran.
Chris died as the result of an ATV accident on December 3, 2023 at the age of 69.
Survivors: step-sons, Joseph (Randi) Haley of Sheridan, Justin Haley of Cabot; grandchildren, Gracyn, Jeffrey, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
When he wasn't driving a truck, or working on one, he could be found tuned in to the latest sporting event. He loved all kinds of sports, but he especially loved rooting on the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a true outdoorsman, one who was particularly fond of duck hunting, and crappie fishing on the river. He was known to cook fish as well as he could catch them, too. He was an animal lover through and through, but him and his dog Berkeley, which he called "Hound Dog" were almost inseparable. Just as he had a nickname for his dog, he had nicknames for most of his friends, and sometimes people he just met. He was known by his friends as "Mudbone," by his late wife Betty Ward as "Hon," and by his grandkids as, "Ganbone." He was married to Betty for eight years and missed her every day after she passed. He loved his grandkids, and he was not shy of reminding them or anyone else either. Those who truly knew Chris knew that he was his own unique person, a tailor made man. He was someone that can never be replaced, and will be sorely missed.
A time of visitation and remembrance will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, concluding with some personal reflections from Chris's step-son, Justin Haley.
Honorary pallbearers are Billy Capps, Dennis Fox, Brennan Cole, Brandon Cook, Ricky Jones, Andy Vaccaro, Dillon Offutt, Aaron Vaccaro.
