Clayton Campbell Gaines was born and left this world on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. He was the beloved son of Susan Stephens Campbell and Dr. Joshua Keith Gaines. Clayton is survived by his sister Elizabeth "Lizzie" Stephens Gaines and his grandparents Elizabeth Stephens Campbell, Rita Breazeale Gaines, and William Keith Gaines. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Craig Dobbs Campbell, Sr.

Clayton was born 8 lbs. 3 oz., 22 inches, and had a head full of dark hair. He was beautiful and looked so much like his big sister, Lizzie. While only in this world for a brief time, his presence has forever changed his family and the overwhelming love for him will remain.

Clayton was laid to rest next to his great grandfather and great aunt in a private ceremony on Friday, May 23, 2025.

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at UAMS who helped navigate a heartbreaking situation with great kindness and empathy.
