Cora Faye Garcia, age 79, passed away on June 26, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with dementia.
Born in Shaw, Mississippi, Faye spent nearly 40 years in the Mississippi Delta, where she built lasting friendships and cherished family memories. In the late 1970s, she relocated to the St. Louis area and began a new chapter in her life. She worked for many years in the fast-food industry in the Granite City area before dedicating seven years of service as a housekeeper at the former Lutheran Altenheim Nursing Home in North St. Louis. Known for her strong work ethic, kind heart, and love for her family, Faye touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Manley; her father, Gale Humphreys; her sisters, Retha Mae Keith of Moorhead, Mississippi, Evelyne Washington of Carrollton, Mississippi, and Gail Meyers of Clinton, Mississippi; and her beloved grandson, Christopher Ryan Roberson of Indianola, Mississippi.
Faye leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Garcia of Madison, Illinois; her sister, Barbara (Joe) Grammer of Leland, Mississippi; her brother, Garland (Susie) Humphreys of Leland, Mississippi; and her children, Millie (Randy) Plunkett of Grapevine, Arkansas, JR(Wanda) Roberson of Indianola, Mississippi, and Stephanie Roberson of Indianola, Mississippi.
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Braxton (Courtney) Hurst of Pea Ridge, AR; Mary (Kyle) Leopard of Grapevine, AR; Mindy (Aaron) Hall of Oklahoma; Ross (Olivia) Plunkett of Grapevine, AR; Donna-Kaye (Josh) Burchfield of Hot Springs, AR; Whitney (Shannon) Crow of Water Valley, MS; Brandi (Mohammed) Kachouri of Germantown, MD; Payton (Brianna) Lawrence of Sunflower, MS; and Tara Lawrence of Indianola, MS; as well as a number of great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and pride.
Though she will be deeply missed, Faye’s love, strength, and the memories she created with those she loved will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Faye will be laid to rest at Hedden Chapel Cemetery in Grapevine, Arkansas.
