Obituary

Daniel Kemp Nall of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 28, 1919 in Sheridan, the son of the late O. L."Jufe" Nall and Clyde Rushing Nall. Raised in his beloved Grant County, he remained a loyal resident for most of his entire life. Dan died Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 85.

Before serving in the U. S. Navy during World War II, he was a graduate of Henderson State Teachers College, receiving bachelor degrees in both history and physical education. He participated in Reddie Athletics and for many years enjoyed being an active member of the Golden Reddie And War Years reunions. He earned his masters degree in history from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was a dedicated Razorback fan. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan.

Dan's career in education and coaching included Hendrix College in Conway, Morrilton High School and Sheridan High School. He was a past president of the Arkansas Athletic Association and later served as Sheridan Postmaster. Following retirement, he was an active member of the Arkansas Democratic Party, Senior Democrats of Arkansas and was a Democratic National Committee supporter. He enjoyed serving as Sargent-of-Arms in the Arkansas State Senate.

Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Muriel Cole Slaughter Nall in 2001. His survivors include a son, Grant County Judge Kemp Nall and wife Denice of Sheridan; Daughters, Susan Nall Perry of Gunterville, Alabama and Dian Nall Taylor and husband Tommy of Arab, Alabama; Ten Grandchildren, Bryce Nall, Jenny Nall Manning(Aaron), John Perry(Stacy), Jim Perry(Rhonda), Nancy Liederbach (Gary), Tammy Taylor Allen(Mike), Pamela Taylor Brady(David), Tod Taylor(April), Amanda Mitchell (J. B.) and Alison Mankin; Fifteen Great-Grandchildren: Blair and Tara Perry; Trey and Seth Perry; Paris and Milan Liederbach; Ross, Sara and Rebecca Allen; Rachel and Alexandra Taylor; Blake, Taylor, and Natalie Brady; Emma Mitchell; and a brother in law, Dr. Bob Slaughter and wife Mary of Batesville.

Dan worked diligently as a member of the Grant County Museum Board of Directors in the founding and early development of the Grant County Museum and was named Board Member Emeritus in February 2004. Many of his unique collections are shown in interesting museum displays. In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Grant County Museum, 521 Shackleford Road, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150; or to the National Kidney Foundation, 1 Lile Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 7, 2005 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Reverend Bruce Bennett and Reverend Mark Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan with military honors. Visitation: 4-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
