Danny Monroe Rucker, Sr. of Sheridan, Arkansas was born January 8, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Jessie Willard and Alamay Beatrice Cantwell Pennington. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Sheridan and the DAV. He was in the United States Navy and fought in the Vietnam War. He had many passions in his life. He was a Christian who raised his children in a non-denominational church. He loved to worship and praise his Lord, read his Bible, sing, ride his motorcycle, and go to auctions. He was a giver. Many times he would out bid a person at the auction and then go give them what he had won. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally. He could be found most days at Hardees or Day n Nite visiting with his many friends.
Mr. Rucker died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 71.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Evans and a brother Larry Rucker.
Survivors: wife Brenda Rucker of Sheridan; sons, Danny Rucker, Jr. and wife Teresa of Benton, Charles Rucker of Sheridan, Ronnie Rucker of White Hall, David Rucker and wife Sarah of Sheridan, Joseph Rucker of Sheridan; daughters, Tammy Lunsford and husband Bill of Sheridan, Amanda Rucker of Sheridan; brother, Charles Marvin Rucker and wife Pat of Pine Bluff; sisters, Jessie Price and husband James, Brenda Horton and husband Dewayne, all of Sheridan; 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Cantwell officiating. Burial will follow at Hardin Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Danny Rucker, Jr., Charles Rucker, Ronnie Rucker, David Rucker, Joseph Rucker, Bill Lunsford, Steven Rucker and Chip Wooley.
