Obituary

Dennis Butler "D.B." Gwin, Jr., known to many as "Shot", was born January 6, 1951 in Pine Bluff, the son of the late D.B. "Preacher" Gwin, Sr. and Ara Catherine Walker Gwin. D.B. was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan, and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping, and was President of Sheridan Hunting Club, where he's been a member for over 60 years. Whether it was spending time outdoors, antiquing, or mowing, D.B.'s greatest joy was making memories with Mary Lou. They were truly the best of friends, and walked through life together.

D.B. died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Saline Memorial Hospital, at the age of 67. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steve Gwin, and brother-in-law, Jim French.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Lockhart Gwin of Sheridan; sisters, Dolores Gwin French of Tallahassee, Florida; Linda Faye Gwin Graves (Gary) of Sheridan; "Children by Choice" Carrie, Danny, and Kylee Wilkins; nieces, Dennie Kay Chandler, Jacki Holden, Linde Miller (Ross); several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Terry Williams and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel (South) Cemetery in the Shiloh Community. Visitation is also Thursday, from 10:00 A.M., until service time.

Pallbearers are Towny Mosley, Randy Pruitt, Wes Kerr, DJ Ray, Scott Winston, and Mike Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Sheridan Hunting Club.
