Harold Dean Barnes of Sheridan, Arkansas was born January 22, 1929 at Crossroads Community near Sheridan the son of the late Preston and Myrtis Johnson Barnes. He was a retired carpenter for Jack Hartsell Construction. Dean loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dog "Penny". He really enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching his goats.

Mr. Barnes died Monday, December 3, 2007 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 78 due to complications resulting from an automobile accident. In addition to his parents and several siblings, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Irene Jolly Barnes who died September 15, 2006.

Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Kevin and Lynette Barnes of Dallas, Texas; daughter and son in law, Kay and Mark Mitchell of Florida; brother and sister, Gerald Barnes and Barbara Sue Barnes McBeth both of Little Rock; grandchildren, Courtney, Kelsey and Jeremiah Barnes of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel at Sheridan with Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Pallbearers are Brent Williams, Brian Williams, Mark Smith, Terry Barnes and Travis Barnes and Sam Swiger. Honorary pallbearers are Lucian Jones, Richard Boling, Randy Emberton, and Pete McGarity.
