DeWitt Carl Smith of Sheridan, Arkansas was born January 11, 1927 in Grapevine, Arkansas, the son of the late Lonnie and Ella Smith. He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Sheridan. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, trapping, and yard work. He was a hard worker, loved to rake leaves and build things, especially deer stands. Most of all, he loved his family, and kids. He always had a good joke and loved to laughing.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at UAMS at the age of 93.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harvey Smith, O.A. Smith, Basil Smith, Luther Smith and Geneva Green.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 71 years, Melvis Benfield Smith of Sheridan; son and daughter-in-law, Carl Gene and Diane Smith of Sheridan; sister, Wilma Ashcraft of Monticello; grandchildren, Adam and Amber Smith and Brittany and Justin Moody; great grandchildren, Lakyn, Logan and Landon and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside service will be Tuesday,  2:00 P.M. January 12, 2021 at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan, with Bro. Steve Cypert and Bro. Keith Pennington officiating.

Pallbearers are Adam Smith, Justin Moody, Jerry Lee Smith, Terry Smith, Ray Dean Shoptaw and Tim Benfield.
