Walter Don Shoptaw of Prattsville, Arkansas was born October 12, 1924 in the Belfast Community, the son of the late Walter Roy and Elby Buie Shoptaw. He was a member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville, had retired as a Supervisor from Alcoa and had proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed farming, camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Shoptaw died at his home on December 3, 2011 at the age of 87.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Denson Shoptaw, son, Bobby Lynn Shoptaw and a great grandson, Braden McCord Shoptaw.

Grandchildren; Brandie Jones, Preston and wife Jennifer Shoptaw, and Brent Shoptaw;
Great grandchild, Eliot Jones and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Curtis Kyle and Bro. Don Goodman officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville with Military Honors. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00 A.M. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Allen Cooper, Walter Sanders, Chuck Bailey, Blake Carr, Josh Bowden, and Brad Mabry. Honorary pallbearers are David Buie, Rommie Smith and Poodle Bennings.
