Obituary

Donald Dewayne Puckett of Sheridan, Arkansas was born February 10, 1930 at Sheridan, the son of the late George Harrison and Vera Ellen Reese Puckett. He formerly served in the United States Army, was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, a lifetime member of Puckett Hunting Club, and was a Mason, belonging to Taylor Lodge #206. He enjoyed spending much of his time outdoors, where he would hunt, fish, camp, and tend to his animals, especially his goats. Dewayne was known for his great sense of humor. He had a gift of making people smile and laugh and even in his last days, he was doing just that. His greatest joy in life was making memories with his family.

Mr. Puckett died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at his home in Sheridan, surrounded by his family, at the age of 82. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel, Reese, H.B, and Irvin Puckett; sisters, Ruth Alma Hester and Opal Crouse.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Jean Baugh Puckett of Sheridan; son, Gary Wayne Puckett of Sheridan; daughters, Sherry Puckett Ables and husband Billy of Sheridan, and Pam Puckett Walden of Sherwood; brother, Conrad Puckett of Pasadena, Texas; grandchildren, Missy Mosley and husband Terry, Angie Riggan and husband Todd, Carrie Wilkins and husband Danny, Mandy Craven, Bryan Walden and wife Jill; great grandchildren, Alicia Mosley, Devon Mosley, Erin Riggan, Emilee Riggan, Kylee Wilkins, Dylan Craven, Reese Craven, Ryder Walden; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation: Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 P.M.. Memorials may be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church or New Hope Cemetery Association.

Pallbearers are Tony Puckett, Dwight Puckett, Dennis Mitchell, Buddy Crouse, Sonny Hester and Dean Crouse. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond J. Crouse, Conrad Harrington and Herb Slyby.
