Dorothy Mae Morehead

Dorothy Mae Ratliff Morehead of Hot Springs, formerly of Sheridan was born February 22, 1930 in Kedron, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Claude E. and Arrie Courtney Ratliff. She was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed doing cross word puzzles.

Ms. Morehead died on Monday, August 17, 2026 at CHI St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Hot Springs at the age of 96.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. “J.C.” Morehead, her son, Gary Morehead; brothers, L.B. Ratliff, Herbert Ratliff, Milford Ratliff, Allen Ratliff, Russell Ratliff, Troy Ratliff; sisters, Frances Phiffer, Carolyn Ratcliff, and Darlene Parnell and sons-in-law, Russell Owens and Bo Hunter.

Survivors: daughters, Joan Owens of Sheridan, Barbara Campbell of Hot Springs; sister, Patsy Mallei (John) of Pennsylvania; 7 grandsons, Brent Hunter, Bodie Hunter, Shawn Cockrell, Thomas Cockrell, Jeremy Morehead, John Morehead and Alex Morehead; 6 great grandchildren, Lauren Hunter, Corbin Hunter, Nicholas Purifoy, Alivia Hunter, Harley Cockrell, JJ Cockrell and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will have a private service.
