Douglas Allen Newman left this world to be with the Lord on March 6, 2024.He fought a courageous battle against cancer. He was born on July 15, 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa to Robert and Betty Diment Newman. He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1965. He was a 1969 graduate if Morningside University with a degree in business administration and economics. He was credentialed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1972. He practiced accounting in Omaha, Nebraska for twenty years and owned several other small businesses.
In 1979, he received his private pilot's license and all people who flew with him felt very lucky to touch the ground once again.
Doug and Linda moved to Sheridan in 2020 from Kingwood, Texas. He was CFO for a group of companies owned by Joel Solis in Midland, Texas. He cherished Joel and Sylvia's friendship and employment.
Doug pursued many interests. He was an avid golfer who loved traveling, card games, Bible study and fellowship with friends and family. He was blessed with many Christian friends and family throughout the country. He felt at home at the barbecue grill cooking for his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert and his stepfather Aaron Griepp.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Marc Newman (Teresa); daughter Terri Helland (Mark); stepson Mark Caldwell (Karen); stepdaughter Leigh Ann Ford (Darren). He was Peepaw to his grandchildren, Allison Helland, Christian, Brandon, Caity and Carson Newman and Papa Doug to his step grandchildren, Jordyn Carlson(Josh), Logan Murry (Kayla) and Regan Murry, Mason, Cayden (Haley), Tanner and Eli Caldwell; sister Sharon (Don) Novak of Springfield, Ohio; brothers Randy (Maria) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tim and Newman (Suzanne) of Calgary, Canada also survive him.
A memorial service will be held March 28, 2024 at Memorial Garden Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. A reception and visitation will be Gym Dandy, 600 North Cliff Street immediately following the service.
The family is very grateful for the care and support Doug received from Troy and Cheryl Burnett and Bro. Shawn Hill.
