Douglas Eugene Stark, Sr. of Sheridan, Arkansas (formerly of College Station, Texas) was born July 10, 1933 at Cypress, Texas, the son of the late Phillip Hardy and Eula Edna Barker Stark. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was retired from Gulf Oil Corporation. Mr. Stark, and his wife, were longtime Lutherans, having last attended Christ Lutheran Church in College Station, Texas. After moving to Arkansas, they started attending church with their grandchildren at Junet Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed farming, working his cows, cutting hay, hunting, and making memories with his family while fishing and playing at the lake. The greatest joy in his life was spending lots of time with his family.
Mr. Stark died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home, near Sheridan, at the age of 83. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Douglas Stark, Jr. and Darren Russell Stark; daughter, Durenda Rene' Stark; and 5 siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gladys Franz Stark of Sheridan; granddaughters, Candace Lea Minton (Mike) of Arkadelphia, Amber Rene' Denis (Gator) of Sheridan, Sarah Kathryn Elizabeth Beal (Clayton) of Bryan, Texas; sister, Gladys Guinane of Arizona; great grandchildren, Brody Michael Wilson, Briar Russell Wilson, Brennon Ross Wilson, Chris Wheeler, Alli Rene' Denis, and Riggin Shane Denis; numerous other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Gator Denis, Clayton Beal, Chris Wheeler, Briar Wilson, Glen Knigge, Travis Froehlich. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Allen Froehlich, John Reed, Derald Knigge, Wesley Knigge and Dennis Boutain.
