Obituary

Doy Leon Nance of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 20, 1945 at Forrest City, the son of Betty Bateman Nance and the late Mack Leon Nance. He was a man who was proud of his heritage. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and had a unique ability to work with animals, especially dogs.
Doy died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at his home in Sheridan on his 63rd birthday. In addition to his father Mack, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Pat Nance and Billy Nance; step-grandson, Cody Cason and nephew, Tommy Nance.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Nance and step-granddaughter, Cheyanne Cason and his dog Casper all of the home; mother, Betty Nance of Sheridan; daughter, Tammy Nance Batchelor and husband Bart of Sheridan; son, Doy Leon Nance II and wife Nora of Sheridan; sisters, Ruth Card of Nevada, Marie Moring and Brenda Burns of Florida; brothers, Roy Nance and Troy Nance of Nevada; step-sons, Danny Cason, Chad Cason, and Shayne Cason; grandchildren, Misty Wetherington, Rebel Wetherington, Cassie Nance, Blade Batchelor, Jordan Batchelor; and 11 step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan, with his uncle Dan Nance and his nephew Ricky Nance officiating. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville. Visitation is 5:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday.

Pallbearers are Keith Deweese, Coy McDougal, Jeremy Stuckey, Mike Adams, Johnny Coats and Shane Green. Honorary pallbearers are Casper, his dog and Rebel Wetherington.
