Doyle Stanley Palmer of Sheridan, Arkansas was born June 9, 1929 in East End, Arkansas, the son of the late Omar and Lillian Kindy Palmer. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was awarded a Purple Heart. Mr. Palmer had a strong faith in God and loved reading his Bible. His favorite pastimes were shooting his guns, hunting, fishing, dirt track racing and Bluegrass music. He was a true southern gentleman, with a smile as big as his heart, and to know his was to love him.
Mr. Palmer died Monday, January 30, 2017 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 87. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jayne Summitt Palmer.
Survivors include his sons, Stan Palmer of Conway, Sam Palmer (Leslie) of East End; daughters, Becky Scott (Eric) of Sherwood, Diane Watkins of Ico Community; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and considering the fact he was one of 17 children, he's also survived by a "passle" of siblings.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Orion Cemetery, near Redfield, with Bro. Jerry Miller officiating. Visitation is Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
