Duel Frank Simpson completed his earthly journey Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
He was born in Sheridan, Arkansas, December 21, 1929. The son of the late Brady Faril and Verna Simpson.
He married the love of his life Sarah Wilkerson and they raised three children. They enjoyed 56 years together before her passing. They loved to travel and the day after he retired from International Paper Company they took off in their RV. Over the years they visited all 50 states and Canada.
Duel was a great husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and friend. Duel was a navy veteran. He enjoyed telling stories about his time stationed in Okinawa. One of his favorite expressions in his later years was," Oh, me!"
He grew up with a solid work ethic. He learned at an early age to work hard and take care of others. He took great joy in caring for Sarah for many years. He was a kind and compassionate man.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Simpson, son Doug Simpson, brothers: Faril Simpson and Herman Simpson and son-in-law Doug Harlan.
Survivors are daughter Renee Harlan of Sheridan; son Greg Simpson of Sheridan, grandchildren: Jacob (Madisun) Harlan of Lake Hamilton, Kara Harlan of Los Angeles, Hannah Keenzel of Hensley; great grandchildren Bentley, Peyton and Violet Harlan of Lake Hamilton; sisters Leta (Fred)Veazy, and Reba Smith of Sheridan, Ima (Kenneth) Thompson of Wichita Falls, Texas. Brother Eulan (Alice)Simpson of Bryant, sister-in-law Nina Simpson of Conway. Also, there are numerous nieces and nephews.
We are eternally grateful to his caregivers over the years. They were angels on earth and provided him with compassion, love, and kindness. Because of their care he was able to remain home until the end.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
