Dwight Rayburn Anderton of Sheridan was born July 29, 1945 in Sheridan, the son of the late Louis (Bill) and Josie Whiteaker Anderton. He was a 1963 graduate of Sheridan High School and played football and basketball for the Yellowjackets. He spent most of his career employed at the International Paper Company.

He spent his younger years like most men in Grant County did, doing what he loved, hunting and fishing or coaching youth in either baseball or softball. Dwight passed away December 24, 2025 peacefully at his home at the age of 80.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Anderton; his brothers, Marvin, Harold, Garland, and Delbert Anderton, his son-in-law, John Phillips.

Survivors: son, Richard Anderton (Billy) of Sheridan; daughter, Rhonda Phillips of Sheridan; sister, Alice Webb of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Tandi Metcalf, Jordan Phillips (Sarah). Jace Phillips (Karlee), Vivian Phillips; 3 great grandchildren; special friend, Vera Grace and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, December 29, 2025 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 P.M.

The family has requested memorials be made by planting a tree in his memory.
