Obituary

Earl Von Wimberly of Sheridan, Arkansas was born March 12, 1933 at Star City, the son of the late Robert Earl and Elvie Owen Wimberly. He was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church, was a United States Army Korean War Veteran, was past president of Grant County Gospel Singing Club, and was retired from International Paper Company as a heavy equipment operator. Earl Von was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as football, baseball and basketball. He even served as an umpire and referee for many years. He was still a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Earl Von died Friday, July 9, 2010 at the V.A. Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 77. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J.T. Wimberly and a sister, Lillie Mae Wimberly.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 55 years, Emma Lee Cooper Wimberly; son, Jimmy Wimberly, and daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mike Lain, all of Sheridan; grandchildren, Brian Lain and Melissa Lain; sisters, Bonnie Puckett of Rison, Pearl Harrison of Star City and Dorothy Williams of Sheridan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 12, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Kenneth Click and Bro. Doyle Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
